This has created a lot of buzz in the Indian market. The Alcazar is essentially a three-row version of the Creta, with a slightly longer size to accommodate the third row of seats. We recently got our hands on the recent pre-production model and here we present to you our first driving impressions of the new SUV. Alcazar's design bears many similarities to Creta, but with a few changes around. At the front, the Alcazar gets a new grille, along with updated bumpers and repositioned fog lights. The headlights have the same vertically split design, but chrome details have been added. The side panels are easily distinguishable, thanks to the longer length of the Alcazar. It has a 2,760mm wheelbase, which is 150mm taller than the Creta We also see machine-cut 18-inch alloy wheels here, larger than the Creta's 17-inches. The Alcazar's longer rear section has a larger rearview mirror and we also see a new pair of wraparound LED taillights. The tailgate has been redesigned, and the car also has dual exhaust tips and new fake side panels.

The Alcazar also has some extra features over the Creta, like a 360-degree camera and disc brakes on all wheels. It will also have a panoramic sunroof, like the Creta. The car will be available in both six- and seven-seat configurations and getting in/out the third row is fairly easy, thanks to the fold-down middle row and side steps. However, the space in the last row is best suited for children. Hyundai will offer two engine options on this upcoming SUV. The first engine is a 2.0-liter petrol engine, capable of producing maximum power and torque of 159 PS and 192 Nm respectively. The second is a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel from Creta, but in a different tune. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. The driving dynamics are surprisingly nice, with a well-tuned bodywork.

The Hyundai Alcazar is expected to launch in India in the coming weeks and will likely be priced between Rs. 13 lakh and Rs. 20 thousand. Its closest competitors will be the Mahindra XUV500 and Tata Safari, and the Alcazar will also replace several MPVs, including the Maruti Ertiga, Mahindra Marazzo and even the Toyota Innova Crysta.
