2021 Kawasaki Z400 ABS designed to appeal to entry-level riders | Mini Auto

Starting price: ~ $4.999

Kawasaki Z400 ABS 2021 is Kawasaki's naked model for new riders. Made in Japan, small, light and razor sharp, the other 399cc Z400 lets you feel the breeze against your face

.

Sharing 98% of its DNA with the Kawasaki Ninja 400, it only needs a few small changes to deliver the Z400. Kawasaki fortunately realized that the public was very pleased with their parallel 399 cc machine and continued the journey. The removal of the crank and bodywork affects the aerodynamics a bit, resulting in a fuel economy fine of about 0.5 mpg on the highway.

The Z400 has been designed to appeal to entry-level riders, and that's a role it fulfills well in the 2021 lineup. The overall design of Kawasaki is intended to maintain comfort and promote the fun of the Naked bike genre. At 45 HP to the touch, the power goes off at idle, which is perfect for those still learning how to use the smooth clutch at the stop light. Midrange grunt is linear and pulls well when asked.

It continues to be powered by a liquid-cooled 399cc tandem engine, good for just over 44 horses at the business end of Dunlop GPR-300 rubber. The engine uses fuel from a spacious 3.7-gallon tank. Power is routed through a six-speed manual transmission and ultimate chain drive. The brake lever and clutch can be adjusted to make it easy to control comfortably whether you are big or small.

Frame and suspension components are also shared with the Ninja, albeit with slightly softer forks and shock absorbers, which should theoretically be more comfortable for lighter riders. However, based on our experience, in comparing the 2019 Kawasaki Ninja 400 ABS and Z400 ABS, the difference is negligible.

It's no small feat that the Z bike's ride quality is above average whether driving on bumpy surfaces on the way to work or when driving fast around winding runways. LED lighting and ABS are also welcomed standard features that keep Kawi riders safe day and night.
