2022 Ford Evos Luxury Sport Interior and exterior Walkaround - Style and utility | Cars in China

Starting price: $26,000

Turn your mind back to the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. There, Ford wrapped up the beautiful Evos Concept — a sedan with winged doors and styling that goes beyond contemporary Ford production cars. The whole point of the original Evos was to introduce — and evolve — Ford styling at the time. The new Evos is here to do something similar for Ford in China, and this time it's not just a concept.

The new Evos is truly a production-ready car purely for the Chinese market. It was also the first Ford to be developed largely by Changan Ford, a joint venture between Chinese automaker Changan Automobile and Blue Oval. The style is fresh and completely modern. As an SUV with raised hatchback proportions, the Evos reminds us of the Acura ZDX (at least, in terms of character) with a bit of the attitude of last year's Subaru Outback SUS. But putting the old Acuras and Subarus aside, the new Evos really help usher in a new era for Ford in China.

To complement the Evos' thoroughly modern look, the inside is packed with technology — and a big screen. The top half of the dashboard is covered by a large panel that almost spans the entire width of the interior and houses two screens. The first is a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and the second is a 27.0-inch 4K infotainment screen running on Ford Sync + 2.0.

Just like the Mustang Mach-E, the new Evos are underpinned by Ford's all-new networked E/E architecture—supporting over-the-air updates—and will feature BlueCruise, SAE Level driver-assistance technology. 2 new from Ford. Other neat features include a new "co-drive" mode that allows the front passenger to take over half of the giant display and relay pertinent information to the driver.

The new Evos will be sold alongside the China-specific Mach-E and a new PHEV version of the Escape. Evos will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter I-4 engine that a Ford spokesperson said is "like [one of] Bronco Sport." There's no word on specific outputs for the Evos' engine, but the 2.0-liter engine in the Bronco Sport makes 245 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque, and it's safe to assume that Evos' numbers will be similar. There are no details on other optional powertrains that may be available in the future at this time.

Sadly, despite its sleek looks, sturdy powertrain, and SUV-like bodywork (three things American buyers love), Ford has no plans to sell the Evos outside of China - at least. is at this time.
