Starting price: ~ $4,868

We've seen Honda roll out a refreshed version of the iconic Super Cub in Europe a few years back, complete with new engines and new technology but with the same classic styling. Now that the modern version of the world's best-selling motorcycle has just received even more updates, we can't help but feel a little jealous.

You know how in cartoons when it's love at first sight and some characters clearly get hearts in their eyes? That's totally me with the Super Cub, and that's especially true since we first got a glimpse of its new matte black and red. Honda first announced that particular update at the Bangkok Motor Show in early 2021, and we're extremely hopeful that won't be the only market we'll see it in. (Get closer, little Cub!)

Fast-forward a few months to June 21, 2021 and Honda Motor Europe is making it happen, people! The house that Soichiro built has launched the 2022 Honda Super Cub 125 in Europe with a new air-cooled engine that meets Euro 5 standards. Let's take a look back at this utterly iconic beauty.

New for 2022, the Super Cub 125's engine is a 124cc, air-cooled, single cam that Honda says uses a redesigned crank from the current C110 in the Japanese market, along with The first part from the most recent Honda Grom redesign. The diameter is 50mm, the stroke is 63.1mm and the compression is set at 10.0:1. The claimed peak power is 9.65 hp at 7,500 rpm, with a peak torque of 7. .67 ft-lbs at 6,250 rpm. In terms of ponies, Honda says that's a 0.13 hp increase over the previous version. At first glance, that seems pretty small, but it's still not necessarily nothing to start with so small numbers. The real question will be how it feels to ride, as always.

A shiny new engine requires a better ventilator to function at its best, right? The smaller airbox with new coupling and new injector placement is said to optimize the performance of the new Super Cub 125. Since what goes in must come out, Honda made the visual appearance of the new exhaust as close to the old one as possible, and instead decided to see what's inside as important. The old dual-catalyst system on the old exhaust is eliminated, and a new, more efficient single-catalyst is introduced, combined with a new ECU to keep things running smoothly, efficiently and to meet the needs of the world. required by Euro 5. You still get the four-speed transmission combined with the automatic centrifugal clutch, without the clutch lever. You just pick your gear with your left foot at a stop and you're good to go.

Combining classic styling with modern reliability and comfort is one of Honda's goals with the 2022 Super Cub 125. While the styling is modern classic, you also get LED projector lighting. ambient lighting, as well as the Honda Smart Key system, a fully digital display at the front. Both you and your passengers will be pleased to note that both the telescopic fork and the twin rear shock have new springs. The rear shock absorbers also have new crash stops, for added driving comfort. A pair of 17-inch cast aluminum wheels with tubeless tires, a single 220mm disc brake at the front and a 110mm drum brake at the rear helps you stop safely.

The 2022 Honda Super Cub 125 comes in Matt Axis Gray Metallic and will cost £3,499 (or around $4,868) in the UK. is to contact your local authorized Honda dealer to learn more.
