2022 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro revealed in official photos - showing major design changes | Mini Auto

Starting price: $36,000

Toyota has released the first official images of the 2022 Tundra (Tundra TRD Pro to be exact), after dealer images of the upcoming full-size pickup were leaked online earlier. This is just a first look, not the full reveal, that will happen in the coming months. Toyota Tundra 2022 is expected to go on sale in the US market by the end of 2021.

We're getting a closer look at the truck's impressive new front end, which features a black grille with three integrated LED light bars. The word "Toyota" sits at the top with the "Tundra" badge stamped on the lower front bumper, featuring a camo-like pattern resembling fender flares. New TRD Pro-specific wheels are fitted with 285/65 Falken Wildpeak off-road tyres. This example also has a red interior.

The headlights look incredibly powerful and also have beautiful integrated LED DRLs, with vertical air intakes directly below them. We also see 'TRD Pro' badging on the vents on either side of the hood, which looks pretty cool. There's also black plastic cladding on all wheel arches, which adds a muscular look to the design, and the truck also features rocker sliders. Pillars A and B have been painted black, while the door handles remain the same body color.

The new Tundra is expected to use a new twin-turbo V-6, and Toyota released images of the new truck's engine cover this week. The photo shows the "iForce MAX" badge with blue lettering, suggesting a new hybrid powertrain, which could certainly be an option. Another big change can be seen in the rear suspension setup, which is expected to replace the old truck's leaf springs with coil springs, air springs or possibly an independent rear suspension.

In the official image, we can also see that the 2022 Tundra TRD Pro will walk on Falken Wildpeak off-road tires, riding on beautiful glossy black painted wheels. There is also a black shield at the front, to protect the bumper from scratches while driving on the road. We didn't get a glimpse of the rear end, but we could see a bit of vertically oriented taillights. Tundra 2022 will have many upgrades and improvements compared to the old model, in terms of mechanics as well as convenient technology. The interior will also be refitted and more equipment will be offered.

Stay tuned for official Toyota Tundra 2022 details and specifications in the coming months. This TRD Pro model will cost just over $50,000, and the base truck's starting price is expected to be around $36,000.
