A new Volkswagen Polo has been revealed with new styling tweaks inspired by the latest Golf, along with new driver assistance technology first available on this replacement Ford Fiesta. The new Polo will go on sale by the end of 2021, with prices likely to start at around $25.000

In April 2021, Volkswagen introduced the latest evolution of the sixth generation of the Polo. Now its sportiest version: the new Polo GTI. The bearer of the legendary initials leads the Polo segment in performance, technology and sportiness. The powerful TSI engine and sporty chassis, tailored specifically for the Volkswagen Polo GTI, transform the best-selling compact car into a dynamic four-door sports car, also enabling semi-autonomous driving for the first time. on the Polo GTI. A range of latest generation assistance systems ensure even greater comfort and safety for all passengers.

In the automotive world, there are three letters that have had a magical sound to them over the past five decades: GTI. Since the original GTI in 1976, Volkswagen has ensured that this code is synonymous with unsurpassed driving pleasure in the compact car segment. The Polo has been around since 1998 - the third model to do so, after the Golf and the Scirocco. The latest generation seamlessly continues the illustrious GTI tradition and sets new standards for compact cars. The technical basis for this is provided by the Volkswagen Trans-Module Kit (MQB). Across all model lines, MQB stands for technological advancement, high body rigidity, low weight and very good crash characteristics.

IQ.DRIVE Travel Assist, first used in the VW Polo GTI, enables semi-autonomous driving. This system can take care of the steering, braking and acceleration of the new Polo GTI from 0 km/h to the Travel Assist controllable limit (210 km/h). For vertical guidance, IQ.DRIVE Travel Assist uses familiar systems such as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). Vertical guidance is supported by Lane Assist, which is standard. The driver can activate the system via the Travel Assist button on the redesigned leather-wrapped, multi-function sports steering wheel. The driver's hand must remain on the wheel while using this system, meaning the driver is always responsible for the vehicle.

Various new infotainment systems (latest generation MIB3.1), linked to various online services, ensure modern connectivity in the new Polo GTI. Online Connectivity Unit (OCU) with built-in eSIM makes it possible to use online services from We Connect (prepared for a limited time) and We Connect Plus (prepared for free use) in Europe for a year or three). Features like natural voice control, access to streaming services and cloud-based personalization using the latest MIB3.1 system enhanced "Volkswagen ID", depending to the device stream. The integration of apps like App-Connect Wireless for Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ is now wireless. As in the Polo, the instruments and infotainment system are arranged on an intuitive axis, ensuring they can be easily viewed and operated in all driving situations.

Sportiness goes hand in hand with efficiency and moderate consumption

The heart of the GTI has always been its engine. Like all predecessors, the new Volkswagen Polo GTI is also front-wheel drive. Direct, turbocharged fuel injectors shift gears through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DSG), which is standard equipment. Among the highlights of the turbo engine on the new Polo GTI, installed horizontally at the front of the car, are features such as a dual-injection system that combines direct fuel injection and intake manifolds, an engine control unit with four core processors. and an electronic valve lift system on the inlet side. Despite the high power, the engine is impressively efficient with moderate fuel consumption. This is helped by the low weight of the new VW Polo GTI when empty.

As you'd expect from a genuine Volkswagen GTI, the new Polo GTI also comes with a custom, sporty chassis as standard. It lowers the chassis by 15 mm and ensures the typical GTI synthesis of driving dynamics, safety neutrality and driving comfort levels.

The new Volkswagen Polo GTI now comes standard with new IQ.Light - LED matrix headlights and illuminated grille bars as a special enhancement to the daytime running lights. This shows that the sporty new Polo forms a stylish bridge with Volkswagen's all-electric ID. New models and generations of successful models such as the Golf, Arteon and Tiguan also come with this striking LED strip, characteristic of new Volkswagens, as an option or as a model.

The most striking visual change at the rear of the new Polo GTI is a newly designed LED rear light with an animated brake light and an integrated alarm light, which indicates a change of direction with the movement of the light. The new GTI-specific bumper gives the compact sports car a clearer and more efficient image on the road. The adaptive front lighting system (AFS), integrated on the side of the bumper and controlled via the main headlights, has been redesigned and now offers an even more concise lighting effect. Combined with the IQ.Light - LED matrix headlights, it provides very uniform illumination on the road and surroundings. The prominent red GTI logo on the grille, the honeycomb grille, and the continuous red trim strip above the LED daytime running lights remain the iconic GTI emblem at the sharper front end. . To the right and left, it flows into the IQ.Light - LED matrix headlights with small red wings.

The new Polo GTI comes in five colors: Deep Black Pearl Effect, Smoke Gray Metallic, Kings Red Metallic, Pure White Uni and Reef Blue Metallic. The three rear frame colors can be combined with a contrasting black roof as an option (Roof Pack). The car comes with 17-inch alloy wheels as standard. The Volkswagen Polo GTI can also be ordered with an optional 18-inch alloy.

Regarding the interior, the main colors are black, red, gray and chrome

The roof pillars and roof panels are always retained in the Titanium Black trim color, typical of GTI. Red contrast stitching is also always a typical GTI feature. It garnishes a leather-wrapped multifunction sport steering wheel as standard, gearshift trim and seat surfaces. The optional rhythm sound system, with 300 watts and six speakers, provides a captivating audio experience. The amplifier is located under the floor in the changeable cargo area to save space. Luggage capacity of the new VW Polo GTI is 351 liters.
