Honda N7X SUV engine, variant details leaked ahead of global launch | Mini Auto

A few days ago, Honda officially announced the pre-production Concept of the N7X SUV. It has now been reported that the final production specifications of the SUV based on the N7X Concept is expected to make its global debut in August this year. Internationally, the model is set to compete with the Daihatsu Xenia, Toyota Avanza and other three-row midsize SUVs. This seven-seat SUV is expected to replace the old BRV.

The MPV didn't pull in large numbers late and is likely to be taken off Honda shelves. It left the Indian market last year due to poor sales performance.

The new SUV is likely to go on sale in Indonesia first, followed by other South Asian markets.

Expected appearance

The final production-spec model will likely be very similar to the Concept introduced earlier this month, designed and developed by Honda R&D Asia Pacific Co., Ltd. such as City, HR-V and Civic. At the front, it is expected to flaunt a vertical nose with Honda's signature multi-slat chrome grille flanked by wraparound LED headlights on both sides and the company logo in the centre.

The angled LED DRLs are integrated into the headlights along with LED position lights on the fog lamp housings positioned below it on the muscular front bumper. Moreover, a bonnet has the shape of a clamshell.

The most notable highlights along its side profile include a character line that extends from the headlights to the taillights and a large greenhouse with a crease in the window line as it tapers to the rear. Other styling details include roof rails, gloss black body panels, round wheel arches, shark fin antenna and roof-mounted spoiler.

Leaking powertrain details

As for its powertrain options, according to leaked details, it will likely be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine, which will be offered with either a six-speed manual or a CVT automatic. . A hybrid powertrain is expected to be added to the lineup at a later stage. It could also borrow the same engine options from the recently revealed Honda HR-V.

Furthermore, sources suggest that the upcoming BR-V replacement will be offered in four trim levels S, E, Prestige and Prestige HS. Of these, the base S version will only be offered with a manual transmission while the Prestige and Prestige HS will only be offered with a CVT. Here the 'HS' in top-spec trim stands for Honda Sensing, which is essentially the Japanese automaker's in-house developed ADAS (Advanced Driving Assistance System).

The Japanese manufacturer sold the BR-V in the Indian market with great success and it was eventually discontinued. A few months ago, the CR-V and Civic were discontinued due to the closure of the production facility at the Greater Noida store. The production specs N7X can be considered for India as it can compete with a range of seven-seat mid-size SUVs like the Tata Safari and the Hyundai Alcazar.
