2022 Audi A7L - launched in the Chinese market, is a stretched version | Car in China

Starting price: ?

The Audi A7L is a stretched, more conventionally styled version of the globally sold A7 Sportback, developed to meet the needs of the lucrative Chinese luxury car market.

The presentation of AUDI AG at Auto Shanghai 2021 for the first time took place with two partners at a joint trade show booth. Audi and its Chinese partner companies FAW and SAIC are having no fewer than four world premieres: the all-new Audi A6 e-tron concept car and the comprehensively updated Audi Q5L, in addition to the Audi A7L and a research SUV research is still under a skin, dubbed the Shanghai Audi concept - the first two products made by a new partner, SAIC Audi. You can find more visual details of the Audi A7L 2022 showroom by scrolling up.

Audi is taking the next purposeful steps to establish a new route in China. A clear focus on electromechanical capabilities, a new electric vehicle production site in Changchun and a second partnership with SAIC Motor Corporation - these are the pillars of Audi's future China strategy.

While the regular Audi A7 is a sporty four-door coupe in terms of exterior styling, the Audi A7L has a completely redesigned rear end in addition to having a longer wheelbase than the regular car. The front end is largely the same as the A7 Sportback, saving on other bumpers and grille details. On the B-pillar, the difference becomes apparent when the Audi A7L ditches the Sportback's coupe shape and adopts a more conventional three-box shape. The taillight treatment is pretty much the same but the A7L looks completely different from the A7 Sportback when viewed from the rear.

The 'L' prefix denotes an increase in wheelbase and the Audi A7L, which measures 3,026mm between the axles, has been stretched by 98mm with a focus on increasing rear seat space. While the Audi A7 Sportback measures 4,969mm long, the A7L is 5,076mm long. Inside, the dashboard remains the same as the Sportback. Needless to say, there's more legroom for those sitting in the back.

The image of the Audi A7L has a 55 TFSI variant, equipped with a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 petrol engine with a maximum capacity of 340 horsepower and maximum power and 500Nm of maximum torque. It's mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and while the A7 Sportback 55 TFSI accelerates from 0 to 100kmph in 5.3 seconds, expect the extra weight due to the increased length to negatively affect the car. this number in the case of the A7L. Audi has stated that the A7L has air suspension, rear-wheel drive and Quattro all-wheel drive.

The Audi A7L is exclusively for the Chinese market. The only version of the current-generation A7 on sale in India is the high-performance Audi RS7 Sportback. However, the Indian market is not new to long-wheelbase versions originally developed for China. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB and BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine were both designed with the Chinese market in mind but were later adapted as right-hand drive for India.

On its home turf in Shanghai, partner SAIC Audi will introduce the first two models - one electric, the other with a powerful internal combustion engine under the hood. The completely redesigned Audi A7L limousine, which will go into production in 2021, will appear in the company's photo series. Made in Shanghai and exclusively for the Chinese market, the Audi A7L combines the sporty DNA of the A7 Sportback with the prestigious luxury of a full-size limousine. Advanced technologies such as adaptive air suspension, rear-wheel drive and permanent quattro all-wheel drive are among the features of the Audi A7L.
