Hyundai's coupe-styled hot hatch returns to Australia with one final limited edition, priced from $49,000 before on-road costs.

Limited to just 500 units available to order through September 30, the i30 Fastback N Limited Edition is priced from $49,000 before on-road costs with a six-speed manual transmission or $52,000 before on-road costs. with Hyundai's new eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, with one level of equipment offered.

While the first figure represents a roughly $3000 increase over the pre-upgrade, just $45,910 manual before the on-road cost of the i30 Fastback N Luxury Pack was last offered locally, at a premium price. $1500 more than the equivalent i30 N Premium hatch.

Power in the updated Fastback comes from the facelift hatchback's 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, sending 206kW and 392Nm to the front wheels – a 4kW/14Nm increase over the old model (on overboost).

Hyundai quotes a 0-100km/h sprint time of 5.4 seconds for the dual-clutch automatic variant and a top speed of 250km/h.

Standard operating features include adaptive dampers, electromechanical limited-slip differential, 360mm performance front brake, variable sport exhaust, rev-matching, 19-spoke forged alloy wheels. inch with Pirelli P Zero HN tires and a series of N driving modes.

The Limited Edition's standard equipment list matches the $47,500 before hitting the road with the Premium hatchback cost, which includes items like a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, N Light sports bucket seats , leather and Alcantara upholstery, LED headlights, wireless charging, front and rear parking sensors and an extensive active safety kit.

However, according to the pre-facelift Fastback, the new Limited Edition doesn't appear to have the blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert offered with the i30 N. hatch.

The only option available on the limited run Fastback is a panoramic sunroof, which costs an extra $1500. Both transmissions can be had with or without a sunroof – unlike the Premium hatch, an automatic cannot be purchased and there is no sunroof.

Available colors include Polar White, Shadow Grey, Dark Knight, Phantom Black, Performance Blue, Engine Red, and Fastback's exclusive Sunset Red. Dark Knight and Phantom Black attract a $495 premium.

The 2022 Hyundai i30 Fastback N Limited Edition is available to order until September 31.

Once all 500 units are sold out, the i30 Fastback N will not return to Australia, its role will instead be filled by the upcoming i30 Sedan N, which will launch in the last three months of 2021.
