Now, to further increase and solidify that presence in our country, Morris Garage Resurrection introduces a third model whose reservation process is underway. We talk about the new MG Marvel R Electric, an electric SUV that is poised to create a niche in one of the most anticipated segments in the coming years with a very interesting quality-price ratio. taste.

The new model will cost the same as the VW ID4, but with a longer range and more standard equipment

MG Motor says its flagship electric SUV Marvel R will cost between 40,000 euros ($47,720) and 50,000 euros when it arrives in European dealerships this fall.

The price signals a move by MG to leave the budget market it currently occupies. It pitches the compact model ahead of battery-powered rivals from established mainstream brands like the Volkswagen ID4 and Skoda Enyaq.

The Marvel R will come with a 70 kilowatt-hour battery pack offering a maximum range of 402 kilometers (250 miles) in its first version, a twin-motor rear-wheel drive setup.

A higher-spec four-wheel drive model adds a third electric motor to boost output from 177 hp to 284 hp and reduce 0-100 km/h acceleration time down. 4.9 seconds, compared to 7.9 seconds in the rear-drive model. The extra power and weight reduce the all-wheel drive model's range to 370 km.

The SUV's dashboard is dominated by a 19.4-inch 'floating' touchscreen positioned in vertical view like the unit found in Tesla Model S and Ford Mustang Mach E models. One screen The second is placed in front of the driver.

The infotainment system can be updated over the air, and there's a range of online services including Amazon Prime music. A separate app can connect to the car remotely.

The MG combines the vehicle's standard active safety features with the MG Pilot and includes features that are soon to become mandatory in the European Union, including emergency lane keeping and drowsiness detection.

According to MG, a standard 11 kW three-phase charger enables fast charging at public chargers with the ability to reach 80% charge from a nearly empty battery in about 40 minutes.

A standard internal heat pump also improves efficiency at low temperatures.

A car (truck) V2L system allows owners to use the vehicle's battery to charge external devices, such as an electric scooter or an air pump.

The Marvel R is 4,674 mm long and has a relatively small 357-litre trunk. The rear-wheel drive version also has an additional 150-liter storage box under the hood.

The new model will be discounted by the VW ID4, starting at 37,415 euros in Germany, and the Skoda Enyaq, priced from 33,800 euros.

However, the MG has a longer range and better standard equipment. For example, Skoda motorists pay extra for a faster 11 kW three-phase charger and heat pump, while a heat pump is also a cost option on lower-spec versions of the ID4.

MG says the exact price of the Marvel R will be revealed closer to launch.
