2021 Genesis GV80 Price and Specs - Genesis SUV with many luxurious features and technology | MiniAuto

Starting price: $48,900 USD

The 2021 Genesis GV80 offers a serene driving experience, which is exactly what you'd expect of a premium SUV. In the gently tuned Korean-market model we sampled, the GV80 glides over bumps without exhibiting bohemian body movements. That said, when we evaluated the US-market version for SUV of the year competition, we called the journey "brutal" for a luxury SUV and said that even in comfort level, it still feels too stiff. We also feel like the base 2.5-liter turbocharged engine is underpowered and overpowered in an SUV this size.

Genesis GV80 2021 is the first SUV of Hyundai's fledgling luxury car line. We've known this midsize SUV has been around for a while. In fact, the only surprise was that it took so long. It's a niche rival to a number of long-standing rivals, including the Acura MDX, Audi Q7, BMW X5, Lexus RX, and Mercedes-Benz GLE.

In terms of style, the GV80 has a large shield-shaped grille similar to the one that debuted on the updated G90 2020 sedan. It is surrounded by a new quad headlight design. Whether you like or hate the new look, it's fair to assume you'll see a lot more on upcoming Genesis models. Inside, seating for five is standard on most trim levels, with only the Advanced+ model adding a third row for a total of seven seats.

All GV80s are technologically advanced. There's a horizontal 14.5-inch touchscreen along the top of the dashboard, along with an 8-inch digital gauge cluster display. One cool feature of this display is that it can display almost three-dimensional navigational prompts. The same sensors that monitor your eyes to avoid fatigue and attentive driving can adjust the graphics to make your directional arrows or adaptive cruise control graphics seem almost 3D. There's also a great head-up display that shows speed, navigation and warnings from the driver's safety aids.

The Genesis GV80 isn't a perfect midsize luxury SUV, but it's closer to anything in the price range that comes with ownership. Check out our Expert Ratings categories below for our in-depth review.

You'll appreciate the V6's extra power over the four-cylinder. It also comes standard with a pavement-sensing suspension, which we found works wonderfully to enhance ride comfort. It's also the only trim level that allows you to get a third-row seat if you so desire.

The 2021 Genesis GV80 applies an all-inclusive spa day approach to its luxury SUV. There are three main trim levels: Standard, Advanced, and Prestige. All are available with either a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder (300 hp, 311 lb-ft of torque) or a 3.5-liter six-cylinder (375 hp, 391 lb-ft). ) turbochargers. They are connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 2.5-liter engine is available with both rear- and all-wheel drive, while the 3.5-liter version is AWD only.

All 2021 Genesis GV80s get adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, front automatic emergency braking, and lane keeping assist with a centering function. Other standard features include evasive steering assist, driver attention warning, automatic high beams, and highway driving assist (improves lane keeping assist's centering capability when adaptive cruise control is active). Rear occupant alert, which reminds you to check if you left something or someone in the rear seats, is standard on the Advanced grade and up. The Prestige trim adds rear automatic emergency braking and an upgraded blind-spot monitoring system that shows what's on your left or right blind spots on the instrument cluster display or digital gauge cluster.

Genesis' new infotainment system is standard on the 2021 GV80. The interface features a 14.5-inch screen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, an 8.0-inch gauge cluster display, and a 12-speaker audio system. A 21-speaker Lexicon audio system replaces the base 12-speaker unit on the Advanced trim and higher. The Prestige trim adds a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster if you opt for the optional V-6 engine. Genesis' digital key feature, which allows you to use your phone (Android only for now) or near field communications (NFC) key card to unlock the car, is available only on AWD-equipped models.
