2022 Lexus RX 450h - a special edition returns that will keep the RX moving quickly | MiniAuto

Starting price: $52.150 USD

Last month, Lexus announced that the RXL will receive a limited edition Black Line for the 2022 model year. However, there hasn't been any mention of the regular RX. Lexus is correcting that shortcoming today by announcing that the RX is also getting the Black Line treatment for 2022.

Black Line trim will be available on both the Lexus RX 350 and RX 450h, giving both models a modest visual makeover with dark trim and other upgrades. The Black Line kit includes black 20-inch wheels and nuts, a black lower front bumper, black mirrors and a black Lexus spindle grille. The trim is more subtle at the rear, with Lexus swapping out the nameplate badge for a black one. The Lexus RX Black Line 2022 will be available in Pearl White and Embossed Caviar.

The Black Series comes with 20-inch black wheels and lug nuts, a black Lexus grille axle, black mirrors and a black lower front bumper. At the back, it also has a black nameplate on the bottom right of the tailgate. Inside, buyers will get black hole-punch wood trim and light gray stitching on the black seats. It continues through the interior on the dashboard, gearshift starter, steering wheel and top console.

The floats, cargo mat and key holder are also available in black, and special editions also get the Lexus Memory System for the power-adjustable driver's seat, outside mirrors and steering wheel. The RX 350 Black Line starts at $49,450 while the RX 450h Black Line has an MSRP of $52,150.

The entire line has been refreshed for 2020, so the remaining changes are minimal. That last update brought us lighter weight and firmer suspension components for a smoother ride. It also added an active corner brake function that slows down the inner wheels for more stability during turns.

For 2022, the F Sport version is split into a base package and a handling package (commonly known as the performance package). Both include a special gearshift knob and steering wheel, pedals, bumpers, grilles, badges, front seats and 20-inch wheels. Both receive performance shocks, LED ambient lighting, and a few other tweaks. The optional handling package adds Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS), Electric Power Assist Sport Steering (EPS), a sunroof and heated/ventilated seats.

Both RXs will come with the company's tried and true 3.5-liter V6. In the RX 350 it will make 295 hp and in the RX 450h it will combine with three electric motors for a total of 308 hp. The RX 350 has an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard; 450h has an eCVT.

On the other hand, the Lexus RX 450h has the same V6 engine as the petrol-only version, but it has three electric motors for a combined output of 308 hp. It also has the same eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive as all RX hybrids are only available in AWD.

There's no mention of the company's new Lexus Interface infotainment system for the RX (it appeared first in the NX), but buyers will continue with a choice of 8 or 12.3-inch screens, six USB ports. , voice control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The RX is also integrated with Amazon Alexa and all the functionality it offers.

All safety features are expected to be included, including road sign assist, lane tracking assist, pre-collision braking, radar cruise control, blind spot monitoring and warning. Traffic crossing behind.

The black theme is continued inside with black hollow wood trim, black NuLuxe seats and light gray contrast stitching throughout the interior on the seats, steering wheel, and side panels. top, center console and gearshift paddles. Lexus is including all of its Premium Packages on Black Line models, including its Memory System and more. The black trim is just a visual upgrade, allowing the crossover to offer a bit of styling variety.

Lexus IS limited production to the RX Black Line as it did for the RXL Black Line, although the smaller crossover will have larger production numbers. Lexus plans to produce 2,500 units of the RX Black Line for North America, 2,100 of which will be petrol models while the remaining 400 will be hybrid variants. Pricing for the RX 350 Black Line starts at $49,450, while the 450h AWD starts at $52,150 (price does not include destination fees). That's about $4,000 above the entry price for both variants.
