There have been many great Porsche 911s, but arguably the most amazing is the 991.2 GT2 RS Clubsport. Why? Yes, despite being a few years old, one has just won a car production record at the Nürburgring. It is also the basis for the return of the Porsche 935. And now, Porsche has taken the same old model and created a race-only monster, this time with help from its 25-year partner Manthey Racing. It's called the 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25.

Porsche and Manthey Racing have been hidden like bugs in the carpet for years now. Porsche AG even owns a 50% stake in Manthey. Porsche and Manthey-Racing are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their motorsport alliance with the limited edition 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25. You might think the GT2 RS is old news because the newer 992-generation 911 is now out. production (its own sans GT2), but Porsche assures that this special edition race car "bridges the gap" of the two most recent 911 generations. Only 30 of those will be built with only six made to the United States and they will cost $620,000.

This special edition customer race car, like the modern Porsche 935 that Porsche put into service in 2018, is based on the Clubsport version of the 99th generation 911 GT2 RS, limited to 200 units. . Porsche says the new car's paint color, which includes bright green accents that accentuate its functional aerodynamics, is inspired by Manthey's GT3 R - as racing fans call it "Grello" because of its color scheme. The small air inlets in front of the two scoops are for air conditioning the cabin.

The repositioned radiator and reworked front end design allow Porsche to improve airflow to the front brake by eliminating the front fender radiators. These are just a few of the many modifications Porsche made to the car inside and out, including a welded safety frame and limited edition badges.

The Porsche 911 GT2 RS is already one of the world's easiest cars to drive, producing a massive amount of power (690 hp). However, Manthey found a way to improve its performance beyond and beyond what Porsche engineers could do, especially in the aerodynamics department. Clubsport 25 benefits from some of those improvements, originally introduced on Manthey's own GT3 R race car, also known as the Grello.

If you want to own one of the six 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 cars already available in the US, you'll need $620,000, more than double the price of a new 911 GT2 RS road car. However, while it will be rare (especially in North America), its price is right between the $478,000 911 GT2 RS clubsport and the modern $935 $829,000.
