2023 Nissan Z - The car will have a 400 horsepower twin-turbo V6 engine | Mini Auto

Starting price is about 40,000 USD

Nissan has finally revealed the production version of its new Z sports car. Dubbed simply the Nissan Z, it features a host of design changes from the prototype first unveiled in September 2020, as well as a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 making 400 horsepower. force. A manual transmission is standard, while a new nine-speed automatic is available.

The production Z shares most of the design with the Z Proto, but there are some notable changes. The grille, which was previously a single black piece, has been split into two sections consisting of a brightly patterned mesh upper and a black lower section fitted with driver assistance sensors. The back is mostly the same, save for a spoiler added to the leading edge of the hatch. The front and rear shapes, as well as the overall car, a return to the original 240Z, have been retained.

Under the bonnet of the Nissan Z 2023 is an aluminum VR30DDTT 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 that uses small-diameter turbines to ensure a sharp, immediate response. There is also an electronically variable valve on the intake side for improved efficiency. It is rated at even 400 hp at 6400 rpm and 350 lb-ft of torque from 1600 to 5600 rpm. The red line is 6800 rpm. The company has yet to release other performance numbers, but estimates a 15% improvement in 0-60 times over the outgoing model.

Getting the engine's thrust to the rear wheels is a standard near-ratio six-speed manual transmission that uses a high-performance clutch from Exedy and a carbon fiber composite drive shaft. If you don't want to shift gears yourself, there's a new nine-speed automatic transmission available as standard with paddle shifters.

The double wishbone suspension architecture and aluminum subframe can be found in the front wheel wells. The rear has a multi-link setup attached to a steel subframe. You'll find single-tube shock absorbers all around, along with two-piston calipers (fixed at the front and floating at the rear). There is also a three-point strut tower brace in the engine compartment. The hood, doors and rear hatch are made from aluminum.

Upgrade from the standard Sport trim to the optional Performance trim and you'll get things like a revised suspension, a fully mechanical clutch slip-limiting differential, a control system starters, bigger brakes, 19-inch RAYS wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza S007 tires, front and rear wind deflectors, eight-speaker Bose sound system, navigation and more thoroughly fitted seats and various seats . If you opt for an automatic transmission, the Performance-trimmed Zs are also straight up upgraded from the GT-R. Seems like a must have to us.

Nissan is planning to offer an additional special edition limited to just 240 units in the US called the Proto Spec, shown above. It features yellow brake calipers, bronze RAYS wheels and an exclusive interior with unique yellow accented seats, stitching and gearshift knob design.

For those who want a budget two-seat sports car, the 2023 Z has the features and potential to be the mid-decade sports car. It will be newer than Toyota Supra, the engineering and manufacturing joint venture with BMW, which supplies two types of engines and builds the vehicle. BMW seems to be less interested in two-seater sports cars than Toyota.

The Mazda MX-5 Miata is a classic sports car with a lower motor-power but Mazda says, “It's more fun to drive a slow car faster than a slow fast car.” The Fiat 124, the MX-5's brother, has been discontinued after the 2020 model year. The Subaru BRZ 2022, to be announced soon, is expected to have around 50 hp more power compared to the 181 hp of the MX-5. Miata and 150 hp compared to the Z 2023. Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro compete with each other more than Z Car or Supra.

Based on its specs, the 2023 Z should be a dream car: 3.5 seconds to 60 mph for $40,000 is enticing. If it becomes popular, look out for agents looking for an extra $5,000 or more to get buyers to the top of the waiting list.
