MG Motors continues to hit the European market with its all-electric C-SUV flagship - the new MG Marvel R Electric. If the name sounds familiar, that's because the model was announced in March for an expected launch in May, then postponed to October.

The Marvel R is actually not a brand new car as it has been offered in the Chinese market since 2020. In fact, it is a redesigned version of the Roewe Marvel X that launched in 2018. The styling is identical to the Rowe Marvel R besides the badges on the front and back. As such, the standard LED headlights / taillights and large intakes look quite modern, combined with the characteristic SUV look.

The MG Marvel R Electric is available in three trim levels - Comfort, Luxury and Performance. Both the Comfort and Luxury models are equipped with two electric motors at the rear axle, producing 177 hp (132 kW / 180 PS) and 410 Nm (302.4 lb-ft) of torque. This enables a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration in 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 200 km/h (124 mph).

The Performance version features a three-motor setup that adds a single motor to the front axle to produce a combined output of 284 hp (212 kW / 288 PS) and 665 Nm (490.5 lb-ft). This car accelerates from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 4.9 seconds while maintaining a top speed of 200 km/h (124 mph).

All EU standard MG Marver R Electric models are equipped with a 70 kWh battery, providing a WLTP range of up to 402 km (250 miles) for the dual-motor and up to 370 km (230 miles) for the three-motor. . The battery can be charged from 5-80% in 43 minutes from a DC charger. The Vehicle-to-Load standard allows the battery to power an external electrical system, with a maximum load capacity of 2,500W.

MG claims that the five-seat cabin features premium materials and generous equipment. The trunk has 357lt (12.6 cubic feet) of space and an additional 150lt (5.3 cubic feet) up front. A giant 19.4-inch touch screen is dominant on the tilting center console, integrated with the MG iSmart infotainment system (Apple CarPlay / Android Auto connectivity, Amazon Web Services), combined with the cluster 12.3 inch digital clock.

Standard equipment includes dual-zone climate control, four USB ports, a panoramic sunroof and partially leather seats. The luxury and performance trim adds a 360-degree camera, ambient lighting, heated seats and a Bose premium sound system. On the safety front, the MG Pilot kit includes 14 ADAS including Traffic Jam Assist.

In the European market, the MG Marvel R Electric will be sold alongside the similarly sized MG HS plug-in hybrid, competing with the likes of the VW ID.4, Skoda Enyaq iV, Kia Niro EV, and more.

Prices start at €39,990 ($46,304) for Basic Comfort, go up to €43,990 ($50,932) for Luxury, and go all the way up to €47,990 ($55,563) for Top Performance, placing it at the top of the range. vi of MG .
