Ferrari officially launched 296 GT3

Ferrari has officially lifted the veil of secrecy about its 296 GT3, which will replace the Ferrari 488 GT3 from the 2023 season.

Ferrari 296 GT3 is a completely new racing model that has just been introduced by Ferrari to replace the 488 GT3 model. Compared to the commercial 296 GTB, the car is upgraded in many ways.

The exterior of the car was inspired by the 1963 250 LM model. Ferrari focused on aesthetics as well as optimal performance when designing the appearance of the 296 GT3.

The wheelbase of the racing version reaches 2,660 mm, 60 mm longer than the 296 GTB. Ferrari uses 18-inch wheels of the Rotiform brand for the 296 GT3.

The structure of the 296 GT3 was developed based on Ferrari's experience in the field of motorsport. The body of the car is made of carbon fiber and the roof is made of aluminum alloy.

Vehicle parts can be easily disassembled independently and quickly replaced. These structures are technically supported by the Scuderia Ferrari factory racing team.

The rear of the car is significantly changed with a large diffuser and spoiler, wide body panels, dual exhaust doors are arranged high and are located on both sides of the emergency brake lights.

The aerodynamic details are carefully calculated by computer simulation and wind tunnel CFD. The 296 GT3 produces 20% more downforce than the 488 GT3.

The cockpit is completely changed compared to the 488 GT3, helping to optimize the driver's visibility. The steering wheel is designed with function keys from the F1 race.

In addition, the steering wheel, Sabelt racing seats, brake pedal... can be adjusted according to the user's condition. The vehicle is also equipped with an air conditioning system.

Ferrari 296 GT3 is equipped with a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 engine block with internal code F163CE, the capacity is lowered to 600 horsepower and 712 Nm of torque.

Replacing the 8-speed dual-clutch transmission on the 296 GTB is a 6-speed sequential gearbox with a magnesium casing. The driver can customize the electronic control of the transmission from the steering wheel.

However, the engine position is lowered and pushed far forward. Ferrari says this will lower the car's center of gravity and increase torsional strength by about 10% over the 488 GT3.

To restrain the power of the car, Ferrari equipped with 400 mm brake discs and 6-piston calipers on the front wheel, 332 mm brake discs and 4-piston calipers at the rear.

The launch of the 296 GT3 also marks the return of Ferrari's mid-engined V6 race car configuration, which was featured on the 246 SP.

Ferrari 296 GT3 has just been unveiled at the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. The car will officially participate in the 24 Hours of Daytona race in the 2023 season.
