What happens when the self-driving car stops in the middle of the road?

US - "They are gathering to kill us" - one person commented as more than 10 self-driving cars blocked the road for several hours in San Francisco.

About 12 unmanned Cruise ships - also known as robotaxi - obstructed traffic for several hours on the evening of June 28 when they stopped together for unknown reasons. Photos shared on Reddit show cars standing in line and blocking most of the roadway, lights on.

The person who posted the photo said that Cruise staff arrived about 20 minutes after the incident, but it took them a long time to move all these cars.

A Cruise representative acknowledged the incident to TechCrunch, but did not elaborate on the cause, nor was it certain that similar trouble could continue in the future. He said no passengers were affected, and apologized to anyone who was troubled by the situation.

Cruise - a driverless car under a sub-brand of General Motors - has been testing the technology in San Francisco since February and has just put the robotaxi service into commercial service two weeks ago. The vehicle does not have a driver and operates under a number of separate regulations, such as running only on certain routes, from 10pm the day before to 6am the next day, when the weather is favorable, and the speed does not exceed 48 km/h. .

"The first thing I said to my colleagues when I saw that scene was 'They are gathering to assassinate us'," said the person who posted the photo with the account Seansinha. The person added that Cruise should be fined for obstructing traffic for so long.

This isn't the first time that Cruise's driverless technology has run into trouble. Earlier this year, San Francisco police once stopped a Cruise because the car did not turn on its headlights when running on the street in the dark.
